Even though we are only officially about a month into the official season,
it’s been a long, HOT summer!!
It’s been a while since we updated, but some great things have been happening
with the club and trails.
On June 13, we hosted the annual “Shootout on Anglers Ridge”. This is the second
year that the event was a dual series race (Southern Classic—North and South Carolina
series) and part of the Virginia Off Road Series. In spite of our normal race-day HOT weather,
we had a record crowd of 190 racers. That’s almost fifty percent more than our
best turnout to date. Having ridden and raced many areas in the past, it was a great
feeling to look around and see such a huge crowd of people at the pre-race meeting.
We continue to get great feedback and reviews from people who have never ridden here before. One
expert class rider from Durham suffered a separated shoulder during the event. While he was being
carted back to the staging area, he said he would be back in six weeks when he was able to ride again!
Truly amazing comments we get about the trails here in “little ole Danville”!!
Echoing what Chris Tompkins said after the race, a great big “Thank You!” to all the sponsors,
supporters, and volunteers who made everything happen.
The July issue of Showcase Magazine has a great cover story about the club and trails. Awesome
exposure and we need more of this. Even some of the non-riding public is starting to be aware of
what we have and take notice.
More news coming soon—everyone have a great weekend and stay cool!
